A fully bulk-billed (free) adult ADHD assessment is rare in Australia, because the appointments are long and complex and no single Medicare item covers them in full. More affordable pathways exist: in several states, trained GPs can now assess adult ADHD for far less than a private psychiatrist, and some parts of the work-up (such as blood tests and an ECG) are often bulk-billed.
